As a family-operated company since 1965, we are proud that our titles have become household names, and we have made a significant investment in providing safe venues for our young audience both in print and
online. Laufer Media's online offerings are all examined for COPPA-compliancy (Child Online Privacy Protection Act).
Below are some guidelines for our advertisers. Above all we ask that our advertising and promotional partners please use their best sense of fair play.
- Positive Images. Advertising should not glamorize or otherwise present unhealthy lifestyles, violence or other forms of harmful or illegal behavior.
- Social Awareness. Advertising should not present negative stereotypes or prejudicial behaviour towards any age, race, religion or ethnic groups.
- Language. Advertising should not include offensive or degrading language.
- Truth in Advertising. Advertising should represent the product fairly and honestly, and create accurate expectations of to the product's performance.
- Undue Influence. Advertising must not convey the impression that
possession of a product will result in more acceptance by his or her
peers (i.e., owning a certain pair of sunglasses will make a child seem
"cooler").
- Product Safety. All products included in advertising must adhere to
the CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) guidelines, the TMA (Toy
Manufacturers Association) regulations, state and federal regulations,
and must provide Laufer Media with proof of such adherence if requested.
- Age Sensitivity. All advertising on Laufer Media websites should be sensitive to the age, gender, and
level of maturity of our tween and teen girl audience. Products inappropriate for use by children should not be included
in advertising/promotions and/or prizing, including, but not limited to,
medications, vitamin supplements, alcoholic beverages and personal
(adult-oriented) products.
- Religious Content. Advertising should not promote any religion or religious beliefs.
- COPPA and Privacy. In addition, Laufer Media takes the issue of privacy very seriously and makes every
effort to ensure children's privacy in all online activities,
advertising and promotions. All advertisers on Laufer Media websites
are expected to be compliant with the Children's Online Privacy
Protection Act (COPPA).
